When Day is Done

From: When Day is Done: Play and Leisure "Stolen Chidhood: Slave Youth in Nineteenth Centruy America

A former slaveowner recalled playing with his peronal servant when they were nine or ten years old. The enslaved boy always asked, "Marse, will you give me a white man's chance?" The question gave pause to the potential for unsportsmanlike conduct based upon race.

hey Jess!!!!
how about Colin Powell? I heard you cheering all the way down here in Maryland.
Please share with us your thoughts on this latest development in our electoral process.
I, for one, am impressed with the tone of Powell's endorsement; reasoned, thoughtful, not attacking anyone but firm in his well-considered support of Obama. Finally a voice of reason and calm after weeks of rhetoric and emotional reactions from too many.
I will not go on ad nauseum, but I look forward to listening to your take on this latest development.
See you on Wednesday!!
By the way...did you get your paper done?
